Today’s little job was to finish the paintwork on the hull, which was to remove any marks by using a fine brush and spotting the marks. Once done for all the three colours it was time to prep the flat clear lacquer, as we were going to need four or five coats to ensure the model will have a smooth blended finish.
This may seem a little strange to paint the hull at this stage, but there is a little bit of logic to this. I work this way as there is no masking to be undertaken and most of all no wooden decking to protect from over spray or paint spills.
The model took six coats to get a pleasing finish, and now its time to leave it to stand and cure for two days and then it will be the fun stuff such as the decking and structures.
This really is beginning to look superb Paul.
I really do look forward to seeing the final result – as I am sure you do too!
I hope the sponsors will recognise the significant amount of detail work that went into the model.
